Flight Test and Check Sheet
Completed exercises are graded 0 through 3 depending on ability. A 0 grading represents a fail and will require the operator to retake the flight test at a later date. Ratings 1 (low) to 3 (high) to have a direct correlation to the complexity of tasking the operator will subsequently be approved to undertake.
Disclaimer: The Applicant for a Remote Pilot Licence must be comfortable that they have the ability to perform the following flight test and that they are aware that FDS hold no responsibility if the Applicant elects to proceed, and fail to complete or crash during the exercise.
The Applicant may elect to discontinue the test at any time, should they not feel comfortable to complete any part of the exercise.
This assessment is designed to assess the practical application of knowledge, understanding and skill of those applicants nominated as applying for an ROC or Remote Pilot License for a RPA that is not operated through use of radio control gear and/or where the RP’s input under normal operations is limited to guidance or mission waypoint commands.
Method Of Assessment
Verbal questions and answers
Specific Resources Required
Assessors require: alternatively require applicant to supply.
A holistic approach to assessment is required.
The exercises get progressively more complex as the flight test proceeds. If the controller has difficulty with the simpler exercises they should not proceed to the more complex exercises. These exercises must be performed using whichever flight mode the operator will be using. Exercises to confirm the settings and performance of the machine will be undertaken. These exercises will include mandatory testing the failsafe settings. These are only to be performed following successful completion of the other exercises. Overall grading of the applicant is not based on an average score, but rather consideration of the results of each item of the flight test taking into account the most limiting score. If the applicant has scored 1 on a number of flight test items then as such has passed the overall flight test with an overall grading of 1. It is anticipated that with further experience that these scores will improve.
0 = Not competent to perform any of the requested exercises above.
1 = Completes exercises with difficulty
